Physical Infrastructure (PI) Team Mission:
We take professional responsibility for the PBX switch, inside and outside physical infrastructure pathways, cabling and termination facilities, including additions, changes and expansion for internal and external customer service.
In order to provide timely and cost effective service we shall include complete documentation of all proposed and completed work tasks for inclusion in shared or non-shared OIT database program(s).
Individual initiative along with team work within the USU IT Organization, various departments and the USU community is encouraged
Physical Infrastructure:
· PBX switch operation and maintenance including major /minor system upgrades.
· Construction and maintenance of Data Center(s) and communication rooms
· Daily orders for (switch) move, add changes and coordination of PBX technician coverage for orders assigned by Service Desk (Wendy).
· Survey and design outside plant fiber optic and copper cabling projects for voice, data, CATV, CCTV, Cellular or wireless deployment as specified by the customer and PI Team Coordinator.
· Planning and project coordination of future VOIP and/or voice implementation plans.
· Supervise subcontractors performing inside plant work as requested by Team Coordinator
· Inside plant (ISP) estimates and coordination of selected projects including wireless infrastructure implementation.
· Coordinate project material ordering, budget, specification and management of inside and outside plant materials (logistics) as directed by Team Coordinator.
· .Project Engineer for DFCM State IT projects as directed by Facilities Planning and Design (
· Engineering and documentation supervision for inside and outside plant information transportation pathways and cabling along with integration in appropriate database storage.
· Long term planning for IT within the Facilities Planning, Design and Construction Organization (Stanly Kane)
